I'VE BEEN TRYING TO BE A PERSON, BUT IT'S HARDER THAN IT SEEMS. ALL THE TIME I SPEND ALONE - I WONDER IF IT'S BAD FOR ME. I SIT FOR HOURS AND I THINK OF ALL THE THINGS THAT I COULD SAY TO EVERYBODY IN MY LIFE THAT I'VE CAUSED PAIN. BUT IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, AND IT'S ALL TO MUCH FOR ME. I THINK I'M ALWAYS ON, BUT NOT PLUGGED IN. TRYING MAKES MY STOMACH SICK. I GUESS THE HAPPINESS WILL COME ALONG SOME DAY. I ALWAYS HAD A VISION IN MY HEAD - LIFE JUST AIN'T FAIR, I GUESS. I GOTTA SAY - I'M ON MY WAY. I NEVER BOUGHT A DIAMOND RING. I NEVER ASKED YOU TO STAY HERE. I GUESS I NEVER REALLY THOUGHT I'D BE HERE LONG ENOUGH TO CARE. BUT JUST KNOW I'M TRYING - GUESS I COULD PROBABLY TRY HARDER. I WAS NEVER REALLY SMART ENOUGH TO LEARN. BUT IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, AND IT'S ALL TOO MUCH FOR ME.

This is one of the finest immersions into low end and lower midrange I've experienced. I keep thinking of reference points like Torche and Smashing Pumpkins, except Hum probably influenced those bands and are just reclaiming their throne here. I also hear classic shoegaze like MBV and Swervedriver, just with a ton more muscle. It's rare these days that a band stands out for its guitar tones, but this record truly is a vulgar display of power. fyeahmetal
